PDM Strengthens the Brazil-Portugal Tech Axis in Recife

True business shouldn’t be done at a distance. If you want to create strong and lasting professional relationships, you should get to know the market that you’re dealing with, both professionally and culturally.

That’s how Nelson Blanco, our CPO at PDM, approaches every promising and fruitful opportunity. The Brazil-Portugal partnership has proven exceptionally successful as a skills hub, and PDM is eager to take this further and continue to expand the brand’s international presence.

Deepening Ties with Brazil’s Tech Ecosystem

As a key part of our strategy to deepen our connection with the Porto Digital Universe, Nelson was recently in Recife, Brazil, through Aponti’s invite – a new entity resulting from the merger between Assespro and Softex Pernambuco, which now represents 534 companies and significantly expands the IT sector in Northeast Brazil.

Nelson participated (as both an attendee and a guest panelist on ‘Global Connection: the new route of Innovation’) in Rec’n’Play 2025 – Brazil’s largest festival for technology and innovation – and also took the opportunity to explore further business synergies, including a visit to the impressive Liferay facilities in Recife. Cheers to Emanuel Di Matteo, Liferay’s VP of Global Sales, for personally presenting the company’s largest operations center in the world to us.

The MECON Project: Showcasing Global Connectivity

He was there representing the MECON project, an innovation consortium that PDM is proud to be part of. MECON’s goal is to develop advanced technology to seamlessly integrate satellite networks into future unified communication networks. In practice, this allows us to ensure global, high-speed, and cost-effective connectivity, even in remote or unserved areas.

Focused on advancing our innovation partnership with Aponti, Nelson presented the MECON project in dedicated meetings with key technology players in the region, including Di2win, Mexx, Vectra, Bidweb, Verdanatech, Yolo, In Forma Software, FBR Digital, TI.Saúde, and Neurotech.

Strengthening Our Team on the Ground

A special thanks is also due to Luiz Amaral, our legal representative in Brazil, who was key in helping Nelson navigate the event and connect with strategic players. We are also thrilled to share that Luiz will now be taking on additional commercial responsibilities, joining our CSO João Pinto‘s team to drive our growth in the region.
